Giving Affiliates — The Heart of the Network

Giving Affiliates are core members of the Alliance and represent the catalytic engine of the Caribbean philanthropy ecosystem. They are legally registered philanthropic entities, funders, donors, individual philanthropists, aligned funding institutions, and capital partners with a demonstrated track record of charitable support in the Caribbean, committed to strategically deploying capital across the region and advancing the mission and goals of the Alliance.

Foundation +

Role: Anchor large-scale funding, deploy capital, shape strategy, and influence systems

Foundation + represents institutions that provide significant financial resources and strategic leadership to advance social, economic, environmental, and broader development priorities across the Caribbean and its diaspora.

This includes private, independent, and family foundations—typically established by individuals, families, or groups—as well as community foundations and grantmaking organizations that raise and steward funds from diverse individual and institutional donors. The “+” reflects the inclusion of aligned funding institutions that deploy development capital across sectors.

This category includes:

  • Grantmaking institutions provide philanthropic funding to support programs, organizations, and systems change.
  • Financing institutions support initiatives through structured funding and investment approaches to enable scale and sustainability.

These institutions play a critical role in mobilizing and directing resources and capital, shaping funding priorities, and enabling coordinated, large-scale investment across sectors.

Role: Mobilize private sector resources, align business and impact, and expand funding channels

Corporate & CSR represents companies and affiliated entities that deploy philanthropic and social investment resources to advance social, economic, environmental, and broader development priorities across the Caribbean and its diaspora.

This includes corporate foundations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs through which companies—such as banks, financial institutions, and other private sector actors—structure and align business resources with strategic philanthropy, supporting locally led solutions, and advancing sustainable and inclusive development within the country and/or across the region.

This category includes:

  • Corporate foundations and CSR programs provide philanthropic funding and support community and development initiatives
  • Corporate social investment platforms deploy resources and partnerships to advance shared value and long-term impact

These institutions play a critical role in mobilizing private sector resources, expanding funding channels, and strengthening the connection between business leadership and development outcomes.

  • Communities of Practice: Peer to Peer networking and curated learning spaces to advance and improve members grantmaking and deepen knowledge through training & discussions on effective philanthropy.
  • Collaborative Philanthropy: Opportunities for funders (members) and implementing supporters who are active in regional networks, and who are part of a broader regional community to meet, partner and identify solutions together and increase impact.
  • Funder Convenings: Occur throughout the year, and funders discuss emerging trends and critical topics shaping philanthropy.

Caribbean Alliance Council

If you are interested in deepening your philanthropic impact, join the Caribbean Alliance Council. The Caribbean Alliance Council is a premier convening space to elevate grantmaking practices within the Caribbean and shape the future of philanthropy. The Council is created for grantmakers and persons working in philanthropy to exchange information, learn from each other, and meet peers in the field, and who have similar job responsibilities.
