Why Women? Empowering Climate Leaders and Building Financial Resilience

The Caribbean faces a unique set of challenges, with climate change posing a significant threat to the region's environment and its people. Women are often disproportionately impacted by these changes, facing greater risks to their livelihoods, health, and safety.

The Caribbean Philanthropic Alliance recognizes the critical role women play in building a more resilient future. Here's why we focus on empowering women through climate leadership and financial resiliency training:

Women as Leaders: Women are powerful agents of change. By equipping them with the skills and knowledge to advocate for climate action and lead sustainable initiatives, we can create a more resilient future for all.

Financial Vulnerability: Women often have limited access to financial resources and control over household finances. Building their financial literacy and resilience allows them to better manage risks associated with climate change, such as natural disasters and economic shocks.

Household Decision-Makers: Women play a central role in household decision-making, particularly regarding resource allocation and disaster preparedness. Their knowledge and skills directly impact the well-being of their families and communities.

By investing in women's climate leadership and financial resilience, we are building a stronger, more adaptable Caribbean.

Here's how the Caribbean Philanthropic Alliance is making a difference:

  • WoMind & BeYOUnd Training Programs: We offer workshops and training programs specifically designed to equip women with the skills they need to become climate leaders and build financial security. Trainings also foster connections and collaboration among women across the Caribbean, empowering them to share knowledge and best practices. As part of the programme, we convene funders to address gaps in funding women empowerment programs and women's leadership in climate action and financial inclusion.
  • Tech2Empower Caribbean: Caribbean partnered with WAKE international as to facilitated technology resources to women-led organizations. We both recognize that bridging the digital divide in today’s world, technology is essential for effective climate action. We recognize the need for women to access technology resources such as early warning systems, climate-smart agricultural tools, and digital financial platforms. By equipping them with the skills to use these technologies, we empower them to become more informed decision-makers, manage resources effectively, and adapt to a changing climate.
